This information has been produced to assist societies and any commercial organisations who are operating miniature railways which are involved in carrying members of the public and/or are operating in a public place, in controlling the risks not only to those persons riding as passengers on the railway but also those working in the sector whether as club members (hobby) or employed. In most of the above the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 could apply.
New Website for the Passenger Carrying Miniature Railway Safety Group -- PCMRSG

Representation on the Passenger Carrying Miniature Railway Safety Group (PCMRSG) has been augmented with two new members.
The National Railway Museum and The Heywood Society have joined 10¼” Gauge Railway Society, 7¼” Gauge Society, Midland Federation of Model Engineers, Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies, Northern Association of Model Engineers, Britain’s Great Little Railways and passenger carrying miniature railway manufacturers and suppliers to draft the new guide that was announced on 7th May 2017.
The group has now established a dedicated website, www.pcmrsg.org comprising information about the group’s membership, the terms of reference and answers to frequently asked questions.
There is also a contact page for use if a particular enquiry is not covered in the information available.
It will be updated with further information as the drafting of the new document progresses.

A New Guide for the Safe Operation of Passenger Carrying Miniature Railways
The Health & Safety Executive has withdrawn support for HSG216 which was published in 2002. As a result a new group, Passenger Carrying Miniature Railway Safety Group (PCMRSG), has been established with the objective of drafting a new guide for the safe operation of passenger carrying miniature railways. This group presently includes 10¼” Gauge Railway Society, 7¼” Gauge Society, Midland Federation of Model Engineers, Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies, Northern Association of Model Engineers, Britain’s Great Little Railways and manufacturers/suppliers of passenger carrying miniature railway equipment.
